When will drivers get it?
This morning I was on a mini bus taking my daughter to the school swimming competition and the driver insisted that he had to drive a racing car. Normally you just accept but today the story in the paper was a reckless drugged-up taxi driver trying to park on top of a tree!
And here we are being thrown around every corner the world throws at us.
Please, please, please… slow down! It is not a race.

Wild horses helped by humans?
I saw about 1 minute of a nature programme today, and this got me thinking.
It was said that there is a certain species of wild horse in China that is almost extinct. Humans have apparently fenced-in the horses so that they can not breed with other types of horse – and keeping the gene pool pure. You then hear that by being fenced in they may not be able to get enough food from the surrounding area. The food is already in short supply.
So what are we doing? Are we really saving these animals? Should we just allow the horses to go free to eat and mate?
If we stopped interfering then maybe the horses would mate and produce another type of horse that is superior, and be able to find their own food. Maybe they wouldn’t even be living in that particular area if there is no food there.
And to end this – maybe it is our fault too that there is no food there.
Or did I only hear half of the story? let me know
Toodledo wins hands down as best todo list
This may seem an over the top title when you realise that I haven’t done any research but when someone takes your information this seriously then you have to take notice.
I started using this about 3 months ago; at that time my todo list was fairly small and I didn’t really think I needed it. Then I discovered that I could start collecting todos into folders, or projects. Not that I wanted to start project managing this way but it opened me to how I could think about how I was going to do something – I could just list the actions in order.
It also synced directly to my iPod (my poor man’s iPhone) this meant I could tinker while away. Brilliant.
Then one day (last week) I opened the site to find a white screen with an error. Hmm. Not thinking too much about it I was able to wait. I understand that for others the wait was a little more nail biting. For me I’m not too worried as I have a copy on my iPod.
Then I got thinking – what if I can’t sync again? Is this going to mess up? Have i lost everything? I remember once putting all my CD collection into CDspot.com – I didn’t log in for a while but when I did it was only to find that they had been sold and my entire collection was lost as I hadn’t gone through the download action.
Anyway, to cut a long story short. Toodledo came back up and everything worked and synced fine. There was also a very big explaination and apology from the owner. He took full responsibility in the failiure and the recovery – this is the type of person we need to safeguard our information.
Todo#15: Write about Toodledo – complete ![]()
Note to self: Try completing Todo#1-14 first!
Can today’s designer think?
I’m seeing more and more that the graphic designers of today are unable to think for themselves. Maybe part of the problem is because I am in Hong Kong? I don’t know. There is either an unwillingness or an inability to understand and deliver a solution.
I would rather not hear a designer asking how he is going to do something – isn’t this his problem?
Isn’t design a little bit more than just execution? If you don’t want to design then follow a career in production.
That’s my grump for the day.
