Redesigning my life – step 1
by Andy
I’ve spent the last week or so pondering on what is missing in my life. I’m not saying I’m unhappy, just that I feel I could be doing more.
I’ve already started lessons twice a week on how to ice skate; one day I’ll post a video of me me falling flat on my arse. And I’ve tried language lessons (harder than I thought). Now it seems that things have settled down and are getting a little normal.
It’s time for a change. And this is the start.
I found this link a few days ago and it got me thinking about what I was doing with myself (my life, or our life, as I have a family). So I decided the first plan of attack should be to track what my week really consisted of. What was it that was taking the time?
Re-think your routine. Often we get stuck in a routine that’s anything but what we really want our days to be like. Is there a better way of doing things? You’re the creator of your life — make a new routine that’s more pleasant, more optimal, more filled with things you love.
Based on this my wife also agreed to the action and went along with my plan – even though she didn’t know what it was yet.
Step 1: Track our current week
I thought about downloading some kind of planner as I had seen, and used, some of David Seah’s templates before. Although I then saw a more useful day tracking template from Blueflavour.
After spending a little time trying to change an already great template into something different… I started again. I opened illustrator and produced a very quick A4 page to help track the week and record things I felt to be important.
You can find the PDF version here : timesheet_daily
I had a vague concept that we should be doing this
So step 2 would then be to jot down items that we feel are important to each of us.
Lets see how we get on.
