So, no prizes for the longest hike etc but it was one of our first for a long time. And it was raining harder as we climbed the hill so we decided that it was a good idea to turn around and go elsewhere.
I did manage to introduce the idea of using a map and compass which I think they didn’t really see the whole reason why we need one. Next time I hope we do something a little bit more aggressive which will need a map.
I calculate the whole trip to be about 6km which is not too bad.

This looks an interesting site. I like the way they have made the user interface almost so intuitive that you don’t use the toolbar too much – just point and click.
A year away and it is time to review the December holiday.
I have already booked the time off work, so no excuse to get a darn good plan in place. We have a vague idea of going to India this year, although we haven’t yet checked to see if that is a good time of year to go to India.
This website looks like it has a lot of info about “budget” travel, but I’m not sure if “budget” is what we are looing for – with a child of 9 years old.
