The last day before going back to work and we managed to escape to the edge of a mountain for the day.
At first glance at the map I questioned why were not following the main track and instead going to follow a route that seems to be in the middle of nowhere (see the map). Why did we not follow the dotted red line that has the icon of the walker?
Instead we followed the highlighted yellow route. I’m so glad we did. On a more detailed look at the map you realise that there are some very significant contours – ups and downs – and with this being a mountain it looks like you have to walk all the way to the top and then down. The sign also mentions that it’s a 1.5hr journey; 45 mins going up!
I’m so glad we followed the yellow route
If you click on the map and look closely you’ll see that the yellow route follows only one of the contour lines – so no ups or downs – that’s good.
I would love to upload a GPX file of the full journey, but all I have is a more complete map shown below. Maybe next time I’ll take the GPS.
